OUR ACTIVITIES
Home Away from Home
We currently provide a roof above the head for our old-aged elders at a leased facility that maintains a high quality of basic amenities and services. We are currently also constructing a well-planned facility within a small distance from the city limits of Madurai that will house -elders. The proposed plan is to enhance the facility to build a separate wing for orphan children and provide a self-sustainable means of growth and living for them.
Education
We currently provide support to single-parent children and orphans who do not have the means to support themselves in getting a quality schooling or take care of basic needs of food, clothing and associated schooling costs. We take care of all direct and indirect costs related to their schooling such as school fees, books, school uniforms and other miscellaneous indirect costs necessary to keep them at school. This greatly helps in removing these kids from potential exploitation as child labor which in our mind equates to a generation of lost progress.
Food and Health Care
We provide one of the best services among peer organizations as far as providing food and health-care amenities to our in-home elders. We have devised a well-structured balanced diet plan for them providing meals times a day and snacks and tea at appropriate times of the day. We have a registered medical practitioner who pays a weekly visit to our facility and monitors the physical and mental well-being of the inmates. We cover all costs related to their health-care and do not compromise in any of the diagnoses provided by the doctor.
Training and Development Skills
We have constantly striven to engage the potential of our elderly inmates to produce hand-made artifacts such as cards, wire-baskets etc. At the new facility that is being built to house the inmates we are developing a acreage of farmland that can provide a means of self-sustained produce for the inmates and thereby reducing the need for rising monetary costs associated with the care required in the future. We propose to harness the strength of our elderly community to cultivate this strip of land with the help of volunteers and paid labor as may be needed and achieve the future vision of completely relying on self-cultivated produce for consumption needs.
